WOW. Recuerdo que de pequeña me decían que el tiempo cada vez me comenzaría a pasar más rápido y no lo creía hasta ahora. El tiempo es un poco paradoja para mi: se supone que siempre es el mismo, pero siempre es tan diferente. A veces un minuto me supone horas y otras veces segundos. Lo que sí sabemos es que a cada año le llega su tiempo final, esas últimas campanadas antes de las doce que te recuerdan que se fue otro año. Me encanta que por algún motivo sabemos que los días seguirán siendo los mismos, que seguimos siendo los mismos, pero seguimos con ganas de hacer borrón y cuenta nueva. Me parece que hay que celebrar a lo grande que tantísima gente vuelva a recuperar las ganas de seguir adelante en un mismo momento, es como un derroche de energía positiva que no pasa desapercibida.

Cada año nuevo me gusta llevar algo, una pieza super glamorosa que no haya usado antes, para acabar y comenzar el año por todo lo alto. Este año mi pieza fue este collar, desde que lo compré supe que lo guardaría para esa fecha especial, y así fue. Lo conseguí en una pequeña tienda de joyas en San Miguel de Azores, Portugal, donde menos lo buscaba. Como es un collar tan llamativo y grande, opté por mi camisón negro que ya antes se los había mostrado, pero con un look más casual, ¡Es que el collar lo hace todo!

Y bueno, después de que escucharan mis locuras mentales con el tiempo, solo puedo agradecerles por un año más en que me dedican su tiempo para leer un pedacito de mi. ¡MIL GRACIAS BELLEZAS TROPICALES!

WOW. I remember when I was a little girl, people used to tell me that time runs faster the older you get, and I didn’t believe it until now. Time is sort of a paradox to me, it should always be the same, but is always so different. Sometimes a minute could last forever, and some others just a couple of seconds. What we know for sure is that everything has its dead line and the year has an end too. I love that for some reason we know that the day of this new year will be the same, and we won’t be someone else, but we still have the will of changing everything around us. I think that’s an awesome reason to celebrate. The whole world feeling positive about themselves at the same moment, is this big amount of positive energy surrounding us that can’t just be unseen.

I like to wear something glamorous every new year’s eve, something new to end and begin the year in style. The piece this year was this amazing collar, since I bought it I knew I was going to wear it on the last day of the year. I found it on a little jewelry store in Sao Miguel from Azores, Portugal. Since the necklace is so striking  I chose this simple black dress to make the perfect combination. I love this dress, I already showed it to you before, but in a more casual look. The necklace makes it all!

And well… After you read all my crazy stuff about time, all that I can say is thank you, seriously. Thank you for another year and for all the time you give while reading any post, a piece of me that I leave here. THANK YOU SO MUCH TROPICAL BEAUTY’S!

¿Más básicos para llevar bajo el abrigo? Sí. Resulta que a mi me fascina llevar medias negras y mostrar un poco las piernas aunque eso suponga que pase un poco de frío, pero sé que no todo el mundo tiene esa fascinación por las medias. Por eso traigo básicos largos y cómodos.

Me gusta mucho la tendencia de llevar algo “sport” junto con algo mucho más elegante, por lo general la tendencia se basa en llevar tu ropa elegante combinada con tus zapatillas deportivas favoritas, pero ¿si lo hacemos al revés? A mi me salieron estas combinaciones, y me encantan. Llevar ropa de algodón y holgada te hace sentir como en casa, pero si la usas con unos zapatos de cuero “más formales” ya estás lista para salir. Atrévete a combinar ambos estilos y tendrás el outfit adecuado para largos días de trabajo, rutina, salidas o lo que sea que vayas a hacer.

More basics to use under the coat? Yes. turns out that I love wearing black tights and show a bit of my legs even if it means that I’ll be cold, but I know that not everybody is willing to wear tights all the time. That’s why this time I bring long and comfy basics.

I really like this trend of wearing something sporty with something more elegant, you can usually see this trend on people wearing elegant clothes and mixing them with their favourite pair of sneakers, but what if we do the opposite? I came up with this combinations and I love them. Wearing loose cotton clothes makes you feel at home, but if you combine them with some formal shoes, you’re ready to go! Dare yourself to mix both styles and you’ll have the perfect outfit for whatever your day brings.

Si me pongo a hablar de la vida y estas cosas que te hacen sonar “interesante” diría que soy de las personas que cree que el camino es más importante que la meta, metafóricamente hablando. Pero bueno, mejor dejo mis filosofías para otro día que sino no acabo este post. Mi punto es que sí, que hay que disfrutar cada paso del camino, pero sinceramente, eso no es lo que aplico en mi día a día, por lo menos no en mi forma de vestir.

Existen dos tipos de ocasiones en invierno, sólo dos: uno, pasaré todo el día fuera en la calle al aire libre o dos, iré a “tal sitio” no al aire libre, no hay más. O te vistes para estar fuera o te vistes para estar dentro, o te preocupa más cómo se ve la bufanda con el abrigo y el “beanie” o te preocupas de cómo se ve el collar con la camisa y el peinado.

La mayoría de mis planes cuando comienza el frío se basan en estar en algún sitio tranquilamente sin quejarnos del frío. En mis “planes” no incluyo ir a la uni porque es parte de la rutina, pero si incluyo lo que sea que haga antes o después de las clases: a veces simples diligencias, a veces ir a cenar o hasta ir de bares. Lo que sea que haga, en este caso, lleva a darle más importancia a la meta que al camino y aquí un par de ejemplos de mi última obsesión “basics under the coat” para llevar tanto en la rutina como en los planes extra.

Este par de ejemplos son para cuando buscas la comodidad, pero también estas abierta a cualquier plan. Quieres verte bien para sea lo que sea que hagas porque pasarás mucho tiempo fuera de casa.

If I start talking about life and those things that make you sound “interesting” I would say that I’m the kind of person who thinks that the road is more important than the destination, metaphorically. But I better leave my philosophies away so I can finish this post. My point is, yes! We have to enjoy every single step on the road, but honestly that’s not what I do daily, at least not with the way that I dress.

There are two kinds of occasions in winter, only two: one, the kind on which you spend more time indoors or two, the kind on which you spend more time outdoors. You either dress to be outside or to be inside, you worry more on how the coat, the beanie and the scarf match or worry on how the blouse, the necklace and your hairstyle match.

Most of my plans when is starting to get cold outside are to go somewhere comfy where we won’t have to worry about the weather. In my plans I don’t include going to the university, but I do include the plans that might come before or after classes: sometimes are just diligences, but some others are having dinner or go to bars. These plans make me give more importance to the destination and here is my latest obsession “basics under the coat”, to use in the routine and also in those extra plans.

Here two examples for when you want to be comfortable yet pretty to be able to go to other plans out of the routine. Above all, if you know you’re going to spend a lot of time outside.

Jessika desapareció en acción, sí lo sé, soy de lo peor. Septiembre- octubre, meses de fashion weeks, fashion night out y demás y Jessika desaparecida en acción. La verdad es que me encantan esos eventos, pero muchas veces me frustran un poco porque la moda es de todos y, estemos claros, en nuestra pasarela diaria no llevamos esos trajes extravagantes y cero accesibles. Me gusta observar las tendencias que traen los desfiles, pero me gusta aún más ver como la gente se adapta a lo nuevo sin llevar exactamente lo que dictan las pasarelas, me gusta inspirarme en la gente.

Quizás por eso me tardé tanto en volver al blog, sentía que nada se apropiaba a ese momento tan glam de eventos de moda. Me puse un poco exigente para ustedes, no quería mostrar cualquier cosa hasta que una amiga me dijo “pero muestra lo que llevas ahora, me gusta” y todo hizo click, siempre me he mostrado como soy y así soy yo.

Esta camisa floral masculina me encanta porque uno: siento que en cualquier momento tengo que decir “Hola, mi nombre es Jessika y bienvenidos al Royal Caribbean” mientras sostengo un par de piñas coladas y ¿a quién no le pone de buen humor eso? Y dos, porque trae ese mood tropical a este inicio de otoño “siento que mi vida va perdiendo sentido a medida que voy perdiendo el bronceado” digamos que, para que pierda menos sentido. 

Esta camiseta la compré en un mercadillo de diseño que hubo hace un par de semanas en Madrid y si, es de chico,  pero creo que ya hemos discutido este tema antes. Para las fotos esta vez me echó una mano mi amigo Dani Vazquez.

Pretendo no volver a desaparecerme así, al menos no por tanto tiempo. Mientras tanto disfruten de este calor otoñal y escuchen breezeblocks de alt-J a ver si logran sacársela de la cabeza, yo no puedo.

Jessika was missing in action, yes I know, I’m the worst. September- October, months full of fashion events and Jessika missing in action. The truth is that I love those events, but most of the times they frustrate me a bit because fashion is from all of us and (being honest) our daily catwalk can’t afford those extravagant looks. I like to catch the trends that the fashion shows bring, but what I like the most is watching how people adapt their selves to the trends with their own stuff, not wearing exactly what we see on the catwalk. I like to be inspired by people.

Maybe that’s why it took me so long to come back blogging, I felt nothing was right for that “glam” fashion events season. I was very demanding for you, I didn’t wanted to show you anything until a friend of my said “but show what you’re wearing now, I like it” and everything clicked. I have always showed me as I am, and this is how I am.  

I love this floral masculine shirt because, one: I feel that on any moment I have to say “ Hi, I’m Jessika and welcome to Royal Caribbean” while I’m giving out a couple of piña coladas and, who wouldn’t like that? And two, because it brings that tropical mood to this autumn entrance, “I feel how life looses its meaning while I’m loosing my tan” lets say that I’m just trying not to loose much meaning.

I bought this shirt on a designers market held here in Madrid a couple of weeks ago and yes, is for men but I think I have already talked about this topic. Dani Vazquez, a friend, helped me this time with the pictures.

I’m not planning on disappearing again, at least not for too long. Meanwhile enjoy this autumn heat and listen to breezeblocks from alt-J and try to get it out of your head, I can’t.
